Immune System

The immune system of the human body possesses remarkable abilities. As our surroundings are filled with harmful microorganisms, germs, viruses, diseases, dirt and many more, our immune system is responsible to recognize, memorize and defense the body from being at threatened by those elements. At the same time, it is also able to eliminate byproducts of the said elements, as well as repair damaged organs.

The immune system of a human body consists of immune organs, immune cells and many more. Immune organs refer to the bone marrow, thymus, spleen, lymph nodes, tonsil, appendix, and etc. Immune cells are mainly made up of B-cells and T-cells. B-cells mature in the bone marrow, and when the blood system is attacked, it will be able to create antibodies to fight against bacteria and viruses. T-cells are created in the bone marrow but mature in the thymus. Though it does not produce antibodies, its main functions include: resist viral infected cells, germs and cancer. When the immune system is functioning properly, the human body is able to resist various viruses. But once immunity weakens, chances of the human body being infected will increase, especially children and the elderly. This is because children’s immune system are usually not fully developed, giving them lesser resistance towards viral attacks, while the latter is usually due to the declination of organ functions and the aging process, which causes the functions of the immune system to decrease.

There are various elements which could lower our immune system’s resistance, and they are usually linked to our lifestyle:

1. Bad living habits
2. Malnutrition
3. Environmental or air pollution
4. Over fatigue
5. Mental and emotional stress
6. Lack of exercise
7. Over-consumption of antibiotics

When our body’s immune system decreases, it becomes vulnerable to infections. Those whose immune system is lower would get tired easily, depressed, catch a cold, stomach flu (diarrhea and vomit if inappropriate food is consumed), slow healing of wounds, allergy, and etc. Apart from that, immune system disorder could also hurt our cells. The following is a list of diseases that is caused by immune system imbalanced:

1.AIDS
— Also known as Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, it is due to the HIV virus’ attack to the immune system. Upon entering the human body, the virus will destroy brain cells and leucocytes, and breed in the lymphocyte, causing the human body to lose its ability to fight against diseases. Patients will be vulnerable to various infectious diseases, such as pulmonary tuberculosis, candidiasis, shingles, as well as enteritis, pneumonia, cephalitis and several other infections caused by an extraordinary pathogenic microorganism.

2.Autoimmune Disease
— Unable to differentiate “self-tissues” from “nonself-tissues”, the immune system will mount an appropriate attack. During this immune system disorder, normal cells in the human body are treated as body threatening and will be eliminated. Commonly known autoimmune diseases include rheumatoid arthritis, lupus erythematosus, scleroderma.

3.Allergy
— Almost similar to autoimmune disease, allergy occurs when our immune system overreacts to harmless substances. Certain people might be allergy to substances such as pollen and penicillin, food such as fungi, eggs, or any other substances that we might come across in our daily lives. Upon contact, allergen (also known as antigen) will react with the antibody in our body and cause an allergy reaction. Most commonly known allergies include sensitive skin, urticaria, eczema, sinusitis, and food allergy.

To ensure that the immune system is healthy and able to resist various viruses and germs, one has to posses certain prerequisites:
1. Balanced diet
Every meal should be wholesome and varies, with no food jags and overeating, and contain basic nutrients such as carbohydrate, protein, vitamins, minerals, fiber, fatty acid, and etc.

2. Sufficient & Well-Disciplined Aerobic Exercise
Aerobic exercise refers to a long period (15 minutes and above) of endurance exercise. Exercises of such nature will be able to help deliver fresh oxygen throughout our body. Aerobic exercises refer to jogging, walking, cycling, rope jumping, yoga and etc, which can promote blood circulation, strengthens lung functions and increase immunity.

3. Maintain A Cheerful Outlook & Learn To Manage Stress
Long term psychological pressure and nervousness can be bad for the body, and will obstruct the operation of our immune cells. When the brain is under pressure, cortinellin – a type of pressure protein, which is proven to obstruct the immune cells – will be produced, and the accumulation of it will affect our body’s ability to fight against diseases.

4. Consume Sufficient Nutrients
With the busy life of modern society, it is a tendency for us to consume processed food, which has lost most of its nutrients. As nutrients and the immune system works hand in hand, it is important that we consume more food that could help boost our immune system.

• Protein: There should be sufficient protein in our daily diet, as protein is an essential nutrient needed for the formation of immunoglobulin and various antibodies. It is made out of 22 different amino acids, in which 8 are essential and are unable to be produced by the human body and has to be obtained through food consumption. One should consume sufficient quality protein such as those of: lean meat, fish filet, eggs and nuts.

• Vitamins & Minerals: Provide your body with sufficient vitamins and minerals, such as: Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, zinc, iron, selenium, and etc.

• Lingzhi: Lingzhi contains triterpene compound, germanium, protein, selenium and many other components which are able to fight against cancer cells and regulate immune system. Triterpene compound is a natural compound which is able to promote blood circulation, anti-allergy and reduce inflammation. Polysaccharide is able to improve and strengthen body’s immune system, and prevent of tumor and cancer.

• Green Tea: As green tea is high in natural antioxidants such as flavaniod and catechin, it is able to help boost our body’s immune system. Scientists discovered that theanine in tea leaves can help the immune calls in the human body to fight against germs and viruses.

• Aloe Vera: Grown in dry and hot area, Aloe Vera is filled with vitality. It contains various active factors as such amino acids, micro-nutrients, vitamins and many other elements, which work as disinfectant, antiseptic, and anti inflammation. Aloe Vera also contains germanium and other nutrients that could help detoxify the human body, repair damaged tissues and boost the immune system.

• Spirulina: Rich in protein, carotene, chlorophyll, vitamins, and minerals; able to help adjust the pH in body, promote metabolism, and boost immune system.

The condition of our immune system relates closely to our living and eating habits. If provided with suitable nutrients, our immune system could be strengthened. Quality products such as PHHP Phyto Greens, Aloe Juice, Royal Spora Lingzhi and Green Tea, could help in improving our immune system. With our surroundings filled with various viruses and germs, it is even more important for us to ensure the well being of our immune system and better defend ourselves from those infectious diseases.
